The Littleness of Us

In the economy of God, big things come in small packages.

1. Small Pageantry

I've noticed that Americans love bigness. Big pageantry, big crowds, big productions ... just big. And the bigger something is, then the more power that we feel is behind it.

Over the years I've been walking this world, I've noticed that the celebrations and pageantry of Christmas gets bigger every year. Also, I've noticed that the focus on Jesus gets smaller every year. I wonder, "When we go big, do we push Jesus out of the way?"

We should make our Christmas smaller.

2. Small Actions

We should never ignore the smallness of obedience to God. We may think that it makes no difference, but have you noticed that God makes great changes when we obey even a little?

Don't procrastinate and don't ignore small obedience. Of course God is asking you to walk a big and important journey, but you are doing it with you-sized steps. So step, even if you feel it is small.

3. Small Faith

The word "Faith" is jam packed with a lot of meaning - meaning that can be elusive to modern day Christians. For example, we may think it is trusting that something is real without without evidence ... yet it is more.

So, when Jesus tells his disciples that even a little faith can move a mountain, He is not speaking about what they think or what they trust, but that even the smallest connection with God can mean great power flows out. The same Faith that resurrects us, is the Faith that does miracles.
